"Little Strokes Fell Great Oaks", says Ben Franklin in Poor Richard's Almanac. We embrace that concept at CSDatum as we plan and implement improvements to our software. Some improvements are large and impressive. Most improvements, however, are small, incremental improvements that help us be just a little better than before. We have two of those types of improvements to let you know about today. Neither will drastically upend what you can do in CSDatum, but we think you'll appreciate the way they contribute to our overall philosophy of continuous improvement.

New "Park Features" Asset

Municipal parks can have dozens of different features within their boundaries. Until recently, CSDatum didn't have a way to map any of those individual park features. Many of you told us that you needed to start mapping, tracking, and inspecting park features to stay on top of these municipal assets.

We heard you! And to support this need, we recently created a new asset type called Park Feature. It is located within the Property Layer.

After you add a point or polygon to the map, you can specify one of multiple different Park Feature Types.

Once a feature is mapped, all of the other typical CSDatum abilities are available. You can take photos of the item and save them to the asset. Documents, such as plans, specifications, etc., can also be saved to the asset. The park feature can also be inspected using the CSDatum inspection templates. We think this could be especially useful for playground inspections done on a regular basis.

Upgraded Measure Tool

We've had a few requests to upgrade the measure tool on the CSDatum Map to allow you to draw a measured circle. Our senior code developer, John Petro, was able to make quick work of that request, and voila! You can now create measured circles all day long!

Check it out under the Three Dots menu: ⋮ Menu > Measure. You can also refer to the help article in our CSDatum Help site.
