Inspections are typically required for Building Permits but may also be required for other permits. Inspections can also be created for a planning application, property, violation, complaint, or tenant record. In each case, the steps to create an inspection record are the same. For simplicity, the steps shown below relate to a building permit inspection.

Schedule a Future Inspection

Begin from the Permit Window of the permit that requires an inspection. In the Inspections tab of the permit, click the Plus button to create a new inspection record.

This opens a New Permit Inspection window. Add the inspection information to the General Info tab. There are two required data fields: Task Performed and Inspector.

The Task Performed data field is populated from a dropdown list. Additional inspection tasks can be added to the dropdown from the inspection tasks. See this article for details.

The Inspector data field is populated from a dropdown list. Additional inspectors can be added to the dropdown from the Employees Info list, as described in this article.

There are three date/time fields, and all are optional. Many users only use the Inspection Date field. This is the data field that is used to create the inspection schedule at Inspections > Schedule. If desired, all date/time fields can be used to capture more complete inspection data, as follows:

  • Request Date/Time - The date/time that an inspection request was received by the municipality.

  • Ready Date/Time - The date/time that the project will be ready for the requested inspection.

  • Inspection Date/Time - The scheduled date/time that the project will be inspected.

When done, click Save.

Adding Inspection Data, Documents, and Photos.

After the inspection has been performed, data, photos, and documents related to the inspection can be added. See this article for detailed information.

Failed Inspections and Scheduling a Re-Inspection

If a project failed an inspection, a re-inspection can be scheduled using the Copy to New Inspection feature. See this article for detailed instructions.
