Other Assets

Over the years, many users have asked to be able to map assets for which there is no pre-built asset in CSDatum. The Notes layer is always a possibility for these requests, but Notes have some shortcomings. For example, you can't upload documents, perform inspections, or export map data for something mapped in the Notes layer.

The "Other Asset" asset is designed to flexibly let you map almost any other asset, and gives you the ability to do all the typical CSDatum tasks noted above.

There are a limited number of data fields available, but they are ones that can be universally applied to almost any asset.

The General section includes many asset identification fields. In order to help differentiate the wide variety of assets that could be mapped, the form includes both a Category and a Department. The Category field uses a type-ahead feature that will help guide you to choose a category from the list of previously-used terms.

The Department field is meant to correspond with the various departments used by your municipality.

Current Value (Depreciation)

The Other Asset asset includes a feature that calculates the current value of the asset, based on the straight-line depreciation method.

Work Orders

Work orders are available for Other Assets. This may be useful for assets that require regular maintenance or adjustments. Schedule work orders for any time in the future, and the notification system will remind you to perform the required maintenance on time.

Photos and Documents

Photos of the asset may be attached to show the current condition. In addition, documents can be uploaded for future reference. This includes things such as user manuals or schematic drawings.
