There may be times when you need to adjust or reset the permit number counter. This may happen in a new year, when resetting the number counter back to 0001, but it may be needed at other times to adjust the numbering. The sections below describe these adjustments.
Reset the Permit Number Counter to 0001
Begin from a permit type that you want to reset the numbering for. In the screenshot below, the permit numbers will be reset for Building Permits because that's the type of permit that is open. Click the Down Arrow button next to the Permit Number, then click Clear.
Click Reset to confirm that you want to reset the counter.
Adjust the Permit Number Counter
If you want to adjust the counter to a different number, begin from a permit type that you want to change the numbering for. In the screenshot below, the permit numbers will be adjusted for Building Permits because that's the type of permit that is open. Click the Down Arrow button next to the Permit Number. Click Set.
In the Counter Value field, type the number of the last permit number that was used. Then click the Update button. The Next Generated Number window will show the next permit number that will be applied when the Magic Wand button is used to generate a permit number. Click Set to apply the change.
