Permit Manager has an automatic permit numbering feature that applies the next available number to a permit when used. To use the feature, click the Magic Wand button next to the Permit Number. The next available number will appear in the Permit Number field.
Permit Number Format
The permit number can be a maximum of 15 characters long and can be formatted in several different ways. Various options are explained below. Contact the CSDatum staff to adjust the permit numbering to use any of these options.
Standard Number Format
The standard permit number is formatted as YYNNNN, where YY is the last 2 digits of the current year and NNNN is a unique four-digit number.
Example: 220034.
Remove Year
The 2 digit year can be removed from the permit number so that it is simply NNNN. Example: 0034.
Hyphen Between Year and Number
The standard permit number format can have a hyphen placed between the year and number in the format YY-NNNN.
Example: 22-0034.
Number Prefix or Suffix
The standard permit number can be supplemented with a prefix or suffix. The prefix/suffix can be up to 7 characters long. The prefix/suffix is often used to do something like add a "Z" to zoning permits and a "B" to building permits.
Example: 220034B or B-220034.
Number Counters
The unique four-digit number applied to each permit can be customized so that all permits draw from the same set of numbers, or each permit type can use its own individual set of numbers.
PA DEP Sewage Permit Number
The above features can be used to create the permit number in the format required by PA DEP for the "Application for an On-Lot Sewage System Permit". We can add the six-digit municipality code number as the prefix and enable the hyphen between year and permit number to create a permit number in the following format.
