In the top right corner of the screen is a menu button with three vertical dots. Within this ⋮ Menu are several general tools that are used to interact with the map.

After pressing the ⋮ Menu button, the main menu changes to one that shows general map tools (shown below). This article will walk through the basics of each tool.

Base Layer

The Base Layer is the map over which all other data is displayed. These Base Layers are created by a company called Mapbox and include several options, including a few "artistic" styles. CSDatum does not have any control over the information shown on the maps or the date of the aerials provided by Mapbox. More recent aerials may be available as an overlay layer, as described in this article.

Extents

The Extents tool adjusts the zoom level of the map so that it shows all of the assets that are currently turned on. It's a quick way to get a broad view of all visible map assets.

Labels

By default, an asset's label is shown when the cursor hovers over the asset. Clicking the Labels button turns the labels on for all visible assets on the map. Click the button again to turn off the labels.

Highlight

Individual assets can be highlighted on that asset's menu (shown below). The Highlight button on the ⋮ Menu turns on the highlighting for all assets that have been highlighted.

Measure

The Measure tool can measure distance, area, and radius. After clicking on the measure tool, select to measure the Length, Area, or Radius.

For the Length or Area, click once to start measuring. Click again to add a point and change the direction of the measurement. Double click to finish the measurement.

For a Radius, click once to start measuring, and finish the radius with a single click.

Recent measurements are saved in the Measure Tools menu and remain on the map. Click a measurement to move the map to that measurement area. Click the Trash Can next to a measurement to clear just that one. Click Clear All to erase all the recent measurements.

Create PDF

The Create PDF button takes a snapshot of the current map view, places it on an 8.5 X 11 sheet and creates a PDF of the document. The PDF can be viewed or saved.

Templates

The Templates button opens the Custom Templates window where custom inspection templates are created and edited. This article describes how to create a custom inspection template.

Defaults

The Defaults button navigates to the user's account where the user can edit Personal Info, the Base Layer turned on by default, and the Asset Layers turned on by default.

Filter

The Filter button creates a global filter that is applied to all assets and all asset types that are displayed on the map. The global filter can be applied to the Owner field and the Abandoned field.
