When you change the owner on a property, the software walks you through a process to change the owner on any active permits.
There may, however, be other times when you need to change the owner on a permit. Examples may include:
Correct an error
Permit was imported from old data and the owner was unknown
Add a historical permit from a time when the property was owned by another person
To begin, open the permit for which you want to change the owner. In the Owner section, click Down Arrow > Pick New Owner.
WARNING: Do not click Open Contact Record. This opens the contact data for the existing owner. Editing this data will change the data for all parcels owned by the same person or business.
The software provides a notification that this change will only affect the permit and not the property. If you want to proceed, click Pick New Owner.
This opens the Pick a Contact dialog box. Check to see if the new owner is already in the contact list. Sort or filter the list to look for the new owner. If the new owner is found in the list, highlight the owner and click Use Selected. If you don't find the new owner in the list, click the Plus button to create a new owner record.
After you have picked the new owner and updated the permit, click Save to save the changes to the permit.
