After an inspection has been performed, inspection data can be entered in the inspection record in the software. If the inspection record was previously created, as described in this article, it's just a matter of updating data in the inspection. If the inspection was not yet created, begin by creating the inspection, as described in the article linked above.

In the inspection, set the Status of the inspection to Complete, Pass, or Fail using the dropdown list. If you are tracking the inspector's time and miles, add those data items.

Update the date/time fields if they are different from what was previously entered. As a reminder, these are the definitions for the 3 date/time fields

  • Request Date/Time - The date/time that an inspection request was received by the municipality.

  • Ready Date/Time - The date/time that the project will be ready for the requested inspection.

  • Inspection Date/Time - The date/time that the project was actually inspected.

Add any necessary Comments. If an inspection fee is required, add it using the Fee button. Any fee added to the inspection record will also appear in the permit's Fees tab.

To add any relevant documents or images to the Documents or Images tab, click on the appropriate tab and then click the Plus button. Navigate to the appropriate document or image file and upload.

Failed Inspections and Scheduling a Re-Inspection

If a project failed an inspection, a re-inspection can be scheduled using the Copy to New Inspection feature. See this article for detailed directions.
