Several months ago we implemented a PDF preview feature for documents saved in Permit Manager. Unfortunately, the technique we were using for the preview had trouble with certain kinds of PDFs, especially those with digital signatures and engineer's seals. For these PDFs, the preview could take an exceptionally long time to load, and sometimes, it didn't load at all.
That's a frustrating experience for the user, and we don't want to be in the business of adding frustration to your day. So, we pulled the feature back to try to improve it. We mucked around in the code, searched the far corners of the internet for better techniques, and now, we have the technology. We rebuilt the previewer to be better... stronger... faster...
Now, when you open the information page of a PDF document, you'll see a preview down at the bottom of the page. If it's a multi-page document, only the first few pages will display. However, if you need to see the whole document, click the Download button and the full file will be in your downloads folder.
