Inspections are typically required for Building Permits but may also be required for other permit types. When creating a permit, add all required inspections as a way to identify the full set of inspections that will be required for the project.

Add an Inspection

Begin from the Permit Window of the permit that requires an inspection. In the Inspections tab of the permit, there are two options:

Single Inspection - Click the Plus button to create a single new inspection record with the ability to edit all data associated with the inspection.

Multiple Inspections - Click Down Arrow > Add from Group to add multiple inspections at the same time. This option only offers the ability to specify the inspector. No other data can be edited when creating the inspections.

Add a Single Inspection

Clicking the Plus Button opens a New Permit Inspection window. Add the inspection information to the General Info tab. There are two required data fields: Task Performed and Inspector.

The Task Performed data field is populated from a dropdown list. Additional inspection tasks can be added to the dropdown from the inspection tasks. See Inspection Tasks for details.

The Inspector data field is populated from a dropdown list. Additional inspectors can be added to the dropdown from the Employees Info list, as described in Employees, Inspectors, and Permit Officials.

There are three date/time fields, and all are optional. Many users only use the Inspection Date field. This is the data field that is used to create the inspection schedule described in Inspection Schedule. If desired, all date/time fields can be used to capture more complete inspection data, as follows:

  • Request Date/Time - The date/time that an inspection request was received by the municipality.

  • Ready Date/Time - The date/time that the project will be ready for the requested inspection.

  • Inspection Date/Time - The scheduled date/time that the project will be inspected.

When done, click Save.

Add Multiple Inspections

Click Down Arrow > Add from Group to add multiple inspections at the same time. This opens a modal window where you can select multiple inspections, with a single click on each one, then select the inspector, and click Add Selected.

After the multiple inspections have been added, details for each one can be added or edited individually.
