How to Create and Issue a Permit

1 - Search for a Property

Use the main search panel and type in the first part of the address. Remember “Less is more” when searching.

2 - Create a New Permit

Open the property where the permit is located. From the Property window, click on the Permits tab, then click the Plus button to begin creating a permit. Read More

3 - Set Permit Categories

Permits are generally categorized with four data fields. These data fields help when creating reports and watching for trends. Read More

  1. Permit Sub-Type - General Info tab

  2. Permit Description - General Info tab

  3. Proposed Use - Permit Info tab

  4. Use Group - Permit Info tab (only needed for UCC/Building permits)

4 - Specify the Permit Location

Permits are tied to a specific property, but the exact location for a permit can be further identified by use of Permit Location for a specific address or Location, to place a point on the map.

5 - Add Applicant and Other Contacts

From the Permit window, go to the Contacts tab. If the deed owner is the applicant, use the Owner is Applicant checkbox. If the applicant is someone else, click Down Arrow > Pick New Applicant to begin selecting the Applicant. Add other contacts in a similar fashion. Read More

6 - Add Fees

From the Permit window, go to the Fees tab. Click the Down Arrow to add a “Group Fee”. A Group Fee is simply a grouping of fees related to a specific type of permit. Read More

7 - Add Permit Approvals

Within the Permit window. Go to the Approvals tab. Click the Down Arrow to add a “Group Approval”. A Group Approval is a grouping of approvals related to one type of permit.

8 - Add Permit Inspections

Within the Permit window, go to the Inspections tab. Click the Plus button to add an inspection. Read More

9 - Accept a Fee Payment

From the Permit window, go to the Fees tab. Click Down Arrow > Mark Multiple Paid. Click on one or more fees to pay to turn the line blue. Add the payment information and click Mark Selected Paid. Read More

10 - Print a Permit

In an open Permit window, click on Gear > Print Permit or Gear > Print Custom Template. Print Permit prints the standard printout, while a Custom Template is a customized permit printout. Read More

11 - Print Required Inspections

If the inspections have been added to the permit data, you can print the list of inspections for the applicant. From the permit window, click on Gear > Inspection List Report.

12 - Your Approval Queue

The permits that require your approval can be viewed at Permits > List Approvals. The list can be sorted and filtered to only show the items assigned to you.
