Manage Rental Units on a Property

Some properties contain one or more units that are rented or leased for use by others. These rental units may be residential, such as rooms or apartments, or they may be commercial, such as business suites or contractor's offices. Below are suggestions for the best way to handle one rental unit or multiple rental units on a property.

One Rental Space

If the entire property/building is rented out, the best option is to use the Resident section, directly below the Deed Owner, to indicate the renter. This option works for both residential and commercial properties.

Choose the renter by using the Dropdown Arrow in the Resident section. Click Dropdown Arrow > Pick New Resident.

Multiple Rental Units

If there are multiple rental units on the property, those rentals are best recorded using the Tenants tab on the far right side of the property record.

To make sure that other users know to look in the Tenants tab, it's worthwhile to create a "fake" tenant with the last name of "See Tenants Tab" and use that in the Resident section, as shown in the screenshot below.
